Happy Holidays everyone!
I’m sure you are all just as excited as I am to take a break over the Christmas and New Year period. Please note that Content Savvy will be closed from Thursday 21st December at close of business, returning on Monday 8th of January 2018.
To end the year, I wanted to give you some tips that you should be considering for implementation on your Instagram account in the New Year. If you’re not already doing the following, January 2018 is the time to get your Instagram strategy in order with the following simple steps!
Start adding to your Instagram Stories: If you’re already feeling overwhelmed just keeping up with the content for your Instagram feed – don’t fret! You don’t have to add to your Insta story every day, but perhaps get into the habit of posting to your stories once every two to three days. Instagram stories are a great tool for your business to be found in other locations within the platform, especially since you can add geotags and hashtags, which will allow your story to appear within the location or hashtag thread that you’ve specified! Instagram have also just added a new feature in that you can archive your stories and place them on your profile as a ‘highlight’ for people to view at any time. This is a great way to repurpose your video content and expand its media lifespan for further reach. You can also now add polls to your stories which is a quick and efficient way to get some feedback from your clients. Remember: not everyone has time to answer email surveys!
Begin to genuinely engage in other people’s content: I touched on this point in greater detail here, but basically, if you’re not already spending some time each day to genuinely engage with likeminded brands or with your customers, you’re losing out big time! Forming a tight-knit community will work to not only increase your genuine following, but also mean that you will be more likely to receive comments and likes on your own posts, in return for you doing the same to others. This means Instagram’s algorithm will know that you are receiving a genuine spike in engagement, and will show your post on more peoples news feeds. Definitely start doing this in 2018!
Add your location to your posts: A small detail which is often forgotten, by adding a geotag location to your posts, your content may appear within that geotags location. I’m based in Melbourne so I always tag Melbourne for my posts to further my reach. Alternatively, some of my clients are based in Sydney or small country towns. In this case I will use a geotag which relates to their location. You might also decide to mix up your geotags so you start to get noticed in other states and territories.
I hope you’re all able to implement these three strategies in the upcoming year to better your Instagram reach. If you need a hand adopting these strategies, get in contact with us today.
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year!
X Cat.
