How to add line breaks in your Instagram captions

A beautiful friend of ours recently started her own business and was in the process of sharing her valuable content on her Instagram feed in order to start marketing her brand online. She quickly began to realise that typing her caption directly into Instagram doesn’t allow for spacing or line breaks. Copying her words from a word document or email also created some formatting issues. This is when she came to us asking for a solution! It was in this moment it occurred to us that a seemingly simple task that our team does on a daily basis – isn’t common knowledge for those just starting to market their brands on Instagram.

So in today’s blog post, we’ll be offering some easy solutions for those wanting to format their captions in order to improve readability and aesthetic.

Option 1: Use the ‘Notes’ app on your phone

This free and simple solution allows you to type your captions into the notes section of your phone before copying over to Instagram. The added benefit of this is that you can also add emoji’s to your captions.

How to:

1. Open the notes app.
2. Tap the icon for a new note.
3. Start typing the first sentence of your caption – make sure it’s engaging and catchy!
4. Press the return button twice to start a new paragraph. Repeat according to how many paragraphs you need.
5. Once your copy is complete, highlight the text and head over to Instagram.
6. In Instagram, choose the image you’d like to post. In the caption section, tap this box once to reveal the ‘paste’ button. Paste your text.
7. Voila! That’s it!

Option 2: Use a scheduling tool
